Peppa Martin’s first experience with photography was in high school in Vancouver, B.C. in the early 1970′s .
It was the pivotal beginning of a lifelong love affair with the camera and the medium, and with that, came a language of self-expression and a profoundly absorbing creative pursuit.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Peppa spent twenty years operating her own small advertising agency — all the while, shooting at every opportunity.
She returned to her first love- photography- full time, when she acknowledged that it was consuming more of her imagination and time than her occupation .
Refreshing her technical knowledge (transitioning to digital) was accomplished over a number of years,
during which time she developed her portfolio and accepted portrait commissions. Her body of work
ranges from personal and corporate studio projects to fine art photography.
Peppa owns and operates ‘truth and beauty’, her portrait and fine art photography business in
Vancouver, which incorporates studio work and the adjunct ‘ truth and beauty gallery ‘.
Her work has appeared in a number of exhibitions and is among several private collections.
Creative Philosophy :
‘truth and beauty’ crystallizes the essence of all that I desire to capture in my photographs. Every subject
offers a profound opportunity to achieve this goal.
The documentation of moments provides a means for observing the world, capturing beauty and
honouring truths.
The blending of fine art, traditional photography and photojournalism satisfies my personal approach to
making pictures by providing endless inspiration.
